Because it drives people like you up the wall when anime is criticized in any way. That alone is justification for dismissing any anime as dogshit, without me even having to see one second of it, but I can also verify that I’ve dismissed anime as shit without seeing it, people tried to convince me that it wasn’t, so I watched it and it was indeed sub-Battlefield Earth level pablum, only praised because of pretentious (yet boring) dialogue and a couple seconds of tits and violence.
This is why anime is overrated, because pretty much all of the people who unabashedly admit to liking anime are incapable of ever hearing it criticized, fairly or unfairly or dismissively or thoroughly or anything. Weeaboos are the same as those comic book nerds who get into screaming matches over who would win Batman vs Superman or Superman vs whoever or X-Men whatever. All Kate’s proving with her “muscle” pictures is that she only cares about muscle size and only in her arms. Which btw is still small. My arm looks almost exactly like that and I’m about 20 lbs overweight and do nothing but type and play casual video games all day. In light of your anime views, what do you guys think about Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon? (especially the Paranoia Agent show in the latter case)
I did like Spirited Away. Princess Mononoke was stupid though, a bunch of anti-industrial environmentalist bullshit. So I’m not that interested in any of Miyazaki’s other movies, I don’t care if the fish falls in love with the boy and it’s charming, I’ve had my fill. If you haven’t yet, good for you, maybe one day you won’t be a teenager anymore. Then again, maybe you won’t, just look at most weeaboos past their 20s. They still have the emotional maturity and intellect of a teenager. It’s no coincidence that they then continue to like anime.
Haven’t seen any of sushikon whatever. If you’re referring to the guy who did Perfect Blue, it’s been sitting on my hard drive and I’ve been avoiding it because I’m absolutely sure it’s not even remotely as good as people have been claiming it is.
